History of the Park

Digging down & hitting the Spring, the once dry Clay Pit of Athens Brick, eventually became the beautiful 8-acre lake with clear warm spring water of Athens Scuba Park. 

In 1968 Harbison-Walker closed down the brick factory in Athens TX. 

In 1987 Calvin Wilcher bought the abandoned acreage. 

Over many years & with a lot of hard work; the dive shop was built, 

Sand, grass, trees, docks & underwater training platforms were added. 

Calvin turned this lump of clay into a Scuba Diving Training Resort. 

Family-owned for 38 years & has become one of the largest training facilities in the southwest.
